Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What does it cost?
A: $95 for 1st child, $85 for 2nd child from same family, and $75 for each additional child from same family registered with PAYSL. If you have a child registered with another organization (e.g. Dallas Texans), that does not count as a child registered with PAYSL.
Please understand that every parent is expected to participate in at least one volunteer activity (i.e. Concession Stand, Lining Fields, Team Management, etc).
Q: What does the cost of registration include?
A: It includes jersey, shorts, socks, trophy, and team picture. We do not provide shin guards or soccer shoes, which are mandatory. Your child should also bring a soccer ball & water bottle to every practice & game.
Q: What kind of shoes are required?
A: Under-4 through Under-6 players can wear regular tennis shoes or "turf" shoes. Under-7 and older need to wear soccer shoes. Sporting goods stores like Academy & Oshman's usually offer a package deal of shoes/shin guards/ball for about $25. Note that shoes made for baseball and football are unsafe for soccer and cannot be used.
Q: What is the minimum age?
A: See the Age Group Birth Dates table for the birth dates of each age group. We will not accept any child younger that does not meet the U4 requirement.
Q: What age groups and genders will you have?
A: We will have Under-4 and Under-6 coed teams. Girls and boys teams for U7, U8, U9, U10, U12, U14, U16 and possibly U18. Girls can opt to play on boys teams if they wish. We will try to help find other clubs able to accept any players we cannot place.
Q: When is the Fall season? Spring season?
A: Fall season runs from early September to mid-November, the Spring season runs from early March to mid-May (about ten weeks in all). See the PAYSL Calendar for specific dates.
Q: When are the games played?
A: We expect that all Under-8 and younger games will be played on Saturdays. Under-9 and older will play on Saturdays or on Sunday afternoons. Occasionally, make-up games are held on weeknights, though we try to avoid that if possible.
Q: Where are the games played?
A: Under-4 to Under-8 will play all games at our complex in Wells Point Park on Heatherwilde Blvd, located next to Springhill Elementary School. Some divisions may play one or two games at the Wells Branch soccer fields. Older age groups will have home games at Wells Point and away games in the Austin-area versus teams from other clubs.
Q: When and where are the practices?
A: Frequency and place varies from team to team. You will get this information from the coach or manager.
Q: If my child ends up not playing for some reason, can I get a refund?
A: You can get a full refund through February 14, 2009, by which time we expect teams will be formed. You can get a 50% refund through February 27, 2009, after that, no refunds will be made. We are strict about enforcing refund deadlines because we often have to turn away other children who could have played. Refunds typically will not be sent out until after the season begins on March 07, 2009.
Q: How will the registration information I provide PAYSL be used?
A: The information you provide to PAYSL will only be used by PAYSL for PAYSL-related activities. No information whatsoever will be provided to anyone other than the Capitol Area Youth Soccer Association (CAYSA) as required.
Q: What if I do not have a computer or internet access?
A: Go to any public library or contact the Registrar.
Q: Is it safe to pay by credit card over the internet?
A: Yes! All data you share with the online registration is encrypted to protect your personal information as well as your credit card information. As a further protective measure, your credit card information is not retained after your transaction is completed. In your browser, you should see a gold lock at the bottom right of your screen. This indicates that you are accessing a Web Site which is encrypting (protecting) your information.
Q: Will I be charged a transaction fee for using my credit card?
A: Nope. You will only be charged the cost of registration, same as using check or money order.
Q: Can I pay by cash, check or money order?
A: No. If you do not want to pay by credit card, you must contact the Registrar.
Q: What if I do not have a birth certificate?
A: You can order a birth certificate from the state of Texas by clicking here. Most other states will also have ordering information online.
Q: Do you have to live in Pflugerville or attend Pflugerville schools to play in PAYSL?
A: Nope. Anyone is welcome from anywhere. It's common to have players from all over the Austin area.
Q: How do I request to play with a specific team, coach or another player?
A: Put all special requests in the COMMENT section of the player registration form. Include the team name, coach name or other player name to assist in team formation. Note that players returning from the Spring season will typically be placed on the same team unless specifically requesting not to. Every effort will be made to accommodate player requests but requests will not be honored if it gives a team a competitive advantage or another team a competitive disadvantage.
Q: What if I have additional questions?
A: E-mail your questions to the Registrar at registrar@paysl.org. If you prefer to contact another board member, you can e-mail them directly. See the Board Members list for email addresses.
