Do the teams Travel?

Academy plays within the CAYSA Austin Central Division which means teams travel as a club to locations in the Austin area. Most academy blocks are held at Wells Branch, 1849 Park, Georgetown and at Wells Point Park for home games. There is the potential to travel as far as Dripping Springs and Salado, or East Austin and Leander. Teams do not travel to San Antonio, Dallas, or Houston unless they sign up for tournaments.

When are the games/blocks?

Academy games are played on Saturdays only from 8AM to 4PM. Academy teams will play 1-2 games each Saturday usually in a 3 hours time frame. Example: Team plays at 12PM, game ends at 12:50PM, team has a ~1 hour break then plays at 2PM, 2nd game ends at 2:50PM total time at fields 3 hours.

Academy girls teams train on Mondays and Wednesdays, and boys teams on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In a normal season Academy teams practice at 1849 park. Please see our Fields link for information on 1849 Park.

What are the practice days?

How are the teams formed?

Player evaluations are done in July for the fall season and in January for the spring season. Players are evaluated based on their skill level. All players that are interested will be placed on a team regardless of their skill level. Teams are formed primarily on age, skill level, and where we can, gender. We do not play players up in age unless they are in the very top percentile of the player's birth year. This helps us form teams within the age group and allows for balancing of skill level.

Can a coach decide which players are or are not placed on his/her team?

No. Players can request a coach however, since teams are made up of different playing levels it is in the best interest of the parents and PFC Academy to place them on a team that will work best with the player’s development.

Who is responsible for team formation?

Pflugerville FC’s Director of Coaching (DOC) and the Academy leadership (EVP/VP) are responsible for team formation.

When does each season begin and end?

Pflugerville FC runs two seasons per year, Fall and Spring:

Fall season begins on the Saturday after Labor Day weekend and ends the first weekend of November.

Spring season begins at the first weekend in March and end the second weekend in May.

What is the next step after I register my son or daughter?

You will hear from your son/daughter’s coach shortly after evaluations are held. E-mail is primarily used for communications. The coach will have information on practice and game schedules. The coach will also hold a parent meeting to communicate team activities, roles and responsibilities, and answer questions from parents.

When does practice begin?

After the team rosters have been finalized. Normally in early August for the Fall season and mid February for the Spring season.
